Patient assistance programs

Both manufacturers run assistance programs that can reduce or eliminate the cost of medication for patients below an income threshold. They are the least visible pathway and often the cheapest one for the people who qualify.

How they differ from a savings card

A savings card reduces a copay for someone who already has commercial insurance. A patient assistance program supplies medication to someone who largely cannot pay for it, and eligibility turns on household income relative to the federal poverty level rather than on what insurance you hold.

They are application-based, usually require proof of income and prescriber involvement, and approval is not immediate. If you need medication this week, this is not the pathway that solves that week.

What we have not verified

We could not retrieve the current income thresholds, the household-size tables, or the list of covered products from either manufacturer, so we publish no threshold figures. We show the pathway with its income caveat and link to the official program pages, which is more useful than a threshold we would be guessing at.
